The first thing to understand is you definitely don’t want to be adding layers and layers of products onto your skin without clearing and cleansing first. Using a good quality cleanser is very important as the first step in any skincare routine. It removes dirt, oil, and makeup that can clog your pores and cause unwanted and unnecessary breakouts. Think of it as prepping your canvas before you paint, it’s the most crucial step to an amazing, finished result.
Then, in the morning use a gentle cleanser that isn’t too harsh on the skin to get rid of the excess dirt collected throughout your pores overnight. A foaming cleanser is great for oily skin, while a cream-based cleanser works wonders for dry or sensitive skin.
