Stroll Along the Desenzano Harbour and historic centre

This vibrant and scenic town has a lot to offer and one of it’s main scenes is the main harbour with the most stunning views of Lake Garda you simple can’t miss! Grab a gelato from one of the main street cafe’s, take a long walk and soak up the laid back Italian atmosphere!

The town’s main centre - Piazza Malvezzi - surrounds the harbour with streets filled with beautiful small boutique shops, amazing eateries and architecture re-designed by Giulio Todeschini in the 16th century. Here you can also see the statue of Santa Angela Merici, Desenzano’s patron saint.


Visit Castello di Desenzano

The Castello di Desenzano, located on top of a hil overlooking the town offers the most breathtaking views, rich history and a calm serene atmosphere.

Originally built in the 10th century, this castle has been beautifully preserved and now holds exclusive exhibitions and events. The panoramic views from the top are simply stunning, giving you a bird’s eye view of Desenzano and Lake Garda. Visit during sunset for an unforgettable experience.

Shop at the Local Markets and boutiques

If you love to shop, you’ll enjoy exploring the local markets in Desenzano. The weekly market, held every Tuesday, is the perfect place to pick up fresh produce, handmade goods, and unique souvenirs. Whether you’re in the mood for some local cheese, fresh flowers, or a stylish leather handbag, the market has something for everyone. we personally recommend Alessi’s hotel and trattoria, about a 20 minute walk from the train station. This gorgeous outside and indoor restaurant offers the most delicious dishes from home made baked lasagne to fresh salmon fillets with rice and vegetables.


Take a Day Trip to Sirmione

One thing you have to do when visiting Lake garda is to take a short 20 minute ferry ride from Desenzano del garda. Sirmione is the perfect day trip as its famous for historical landmarks, medieval center, thermal baths, and lake views.

Spend the day strolling through the old town, visit the scaligero castle, sunbath on Jamaica beach or take a boat tour around to see the most beautiful views. It’s ideal if you want a relaxing day away from the busier cities in northern Italy.


Enjoy your day at one of the surrounding beaches

Desenzano del garda is home to the most nicest lake beaches and there are many surrounding other small towns along the lake. Spiaggia desemzanio is the most popular beach with surrounding bars and restaurants. You can relax and sunbathe in the summer, soaking up the calm and serene atmosphere.

Margy Beach is also a well known spot in Desenzano, as a pebbly beach it’s more central along the promenade and may get busy during the summer months, but still is a nice and relaxing stay.

The Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene, located in the heart of Desenzano, is a beautiful example of Baroque architecture.
