How to recreate and style your outfits like a ‘Pinterest Girl’
Are you someone who always scrolls for hours upon hours on the app of dreams that is Pinterest, just looking at all the gorgeous and somewhat seamless outfits that you come across? do you then take a second look of shame at your messy and confusing wardrobe, as you wish you could create an outfit so effortlessly like all of the pictures you see? Well you aren’t alone, we all wish our lives were as put together as those outfits.
Pinterest has been my official go to for years and years. Especially, when Im going through a daily fashion slump, when I just don’t have the time or effort to pull together an easy yet chic and fashionable look or when i’m looking for fresh inspo and a desperate wardrobe Re-Vamp. However, recently i’ve learnt from the pros and shaped a clear plan for whenever i’m in those struggles. Instead I now use Pinterest as a mere guide for inspiration whilst also giving my looks a personal and interesting touch of my own.
If you also want to find out how you can create an effortless, chic and seamless look too, without scrolling for hours and hours, you’ve definitely come to the right place, and yes you even can with the pieces you already have at home!
So, read on to find out more on how to recreate and style your own pieces like a Pinterest girl…
Elevating your outfits with the clothes you already have
Yes Pinterest is all about the chic, the fashionable and the luxurious lifestyle yet at the same time, it is also about minimal fashion, elevating the basic fits, and feeling good in what you wear. The basic black tee stashed at the back of your wardrobe can definitely be dressed up with a belt, the right fitted trousers and gold accessories, the blazer you bought yet have never worn is also desperately crying out your name to be paired with those cute little boots you always put back and never seem to wear out.
A simple yet stylish outfit always takes the effort of trial and error to begin with. Even so, you might be pleasantly surprised by outfits you wouldn’t usually pick out or wear.
That’s simply what the Pinterest aesthetic is all about; finding your own personal, and wearable, day to day style that you can still feel confident, elegant and put together in.
You definitely don’t need to be buying a whole new look to achieve this. Even so, I personally know how easy it is to get caught up with trends, sales and discounted items. Especially when scrolling on Pinterest, the next thing you know you’ve purchased a brand new outfit from one of the pinned items and you forget all about those that you already have. Therefore, it is beneficial to just see and look at what outfits you can already create by getting creative and elevating your outfits.
Using minimal fashion and the ‘sandwich rule ‘as a personal guide
If you want to create those candid, chic, and clean photos too then minimal fashion is your best friend. Minimal fashion is shown in neutral coloured toned palettes, basic elevated outfits, a focus on chic and good quality accessories and
It’s also important to carefully pick out those pieces you wear instead of just throwing on whatever you can find, it is definitely worth it to put in that extra little bit of effort to make your outfit look clean and seamless.
These little details are always great to elevate your outfits to create a cleaner and more polished look. However, my personal go to when wanting to create a more minimal: ‘Pinterest inspired look’ is the Sandwich Rule. This simple rule begins with the analogy of a sandwich and the comparison to balancing out the colours and proportions of the pieces you pick out to wear.

For example; a simple sandwich rule look will match colour with any top half of the outfit (a top or jacket) to any bottom half of the look (trousers, shoes, handbag or further accsessories). Then to add a pop of colour or contrast, opt for a different colour or pattern in-between.
This makes all the difference as it creates an enhancement of balance and proportion. Using this method periodically with all of your outfits will be sure to lift up and create that Pinterest clean and monochrome inspired look that you cant stop dreaming about.
3. Layering your outfits and utilising monochrome colours
When spending hours scrolling, you might start to naturally recognise patterns that many girls use in order to enhance their overall outfit aesthetic and style. One of those patterns is actually very useful and also optimises comfort, especially throughout the fall and winter seasons, and is a powerful fashion tool called layering!
Don’t underestimate the power of throwing on a oversized white shirt underneath your jumper, pulling over a thin cardigan on the shoulders, picking out an layered all in one jumper dress and pairing with a long trench coat or even adding thigh high boots to finish.

These layering techniques not only give your outfits a bit of comfort and warmth but also that trendy and chic style. You can also pair these layering elements with monochrome toned colours for an even more polished effect and overall elegant look.
So now hopefully you can add your own personal style and touches to these Pinterest inspired looks creating an even better, elevated outfits to become that Pinterest girl, you always dream off.
