  1. Venice, Italy

Venice canals, Italy

Venice is the ultimate place to travel to in Europe for summer. Giving you so many places to see, to eat and things to do. There’s something in Venice for everyone! If you don’t mind the bustling busy streets, attractions and discovering one of many secret spots to take it all in, then Venice is surely perfect for you!

Take a stroll around one of Venice’s many beautiful neighbourhoods. There are 6 in total ( Cannaregio, Santa Croce, San Polo, Dorsoduro, San Marco and Castello ) and they all offer different and unique experiences. If you’d want more a scenic and complete experience then take a relaxing trip on the Italian water boats (Vaporettos) which takes you all around the islands without missing out on anything Venice has to offer.

It’s important to note there are no cars on Venice’s islands which is such an advantage as it’s so easy to get around! if you really want a more effortless and stress free trip you can even hire your own private water taxi, which avoids all the public and tourist transport.

Also, the main attractions in Venice are truly beautiful and something you surely do not want to miss. You can take a ride on a traditional Gondala (pictured above ) while seeing all of Venice’s unique canals and picturesque scenery. Wander endlessly around the historical museums and art galleries ( especially around the time of the Italian biennale) which lasts around 6 months from April - September, see the main attraction sight here for more information.

2. Altea, Spain

Altea, old town

Also known as the Santorini of Spain, Altea is located off the Mediterranean coast of Costa Blanca, near the more larger cities of Calpe and Benidorm. Here, you can relax as you take in the most stunning ocean views, browse the quaint bohemian shops, wander aimlessly around the old town squares and churches and then even stop off for a bite to eat, at one of many luxurious restaurants.

This gem of a city showcases an atmosphere almost as if you were walking the streets of Santorini itself. With arrays of white washed walls, cobbled stone stairs and beautiful big architecture that favours tall arched alleyways.

The town is divided into two main parts; the new and old neighbourhood towns, with the new having a more upmarket and busier scene, whilst the old town being more picturesque and a quieter site to wander. Both are also worth going for a great day trip out.

You can also pack a beach bag and swimwear, as Altea is also home to a gorgeous pebbly beach that reaches all down the coastline. The ocean views are crystal clear with shops dotted around where you can go for a nice sit down lunch or dessert, whilst taking in the stunning mountain views in the background
